Day 14 - San Sebastian

A very sound sleep - I don't think I've been that tired for a long time. A few afternoon drinks, a full belly and a bus trip probably doesn't help (or the 22,000 steps), but I'm fresh and ready for the new day. Ade's lined up a potato and onion tortilla for breakfast and it's good! Still hot, straight off the cooktop, it came out a few minutes after we arrived and it's huge - I can only imagine there must be dozens and dozens of eggs in it. Almost everyone in the bar (at 9am), was eating a slice, and there were probably a dozen of us. Not bad considering they'd only just opened.

Then it was off to the bike tour place for a 10am - 3 hour tour. It's a pretty spectacular place and we couldn't have asked for a nicer day.

We learnt that Maria Christina (Queen of Spain in the late 1800s) loved the place so much that she built a country house as a summer retreat, and moved into it permanently until her death. Not a bad summer shack that she had builton a prime piece of waterfront, with a lovy outlook.

We go for a 2pm lunch at a restaurant recommended by the tour guide. We have some Russian salad with crab, I have lamb and Ade has suckling pig (it tasted better than it looks and yes that's it tail). We even found a Spanish hospitality Jack 😂

After that lunch it's time to climb up to the Monumento al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús - on top of the hill. The views are spectacular and it's a lovely shady walk.

We even found a bar on the way back down. Not a bad spot for a bar.

We also found a lovely gelato on the walk back home. At this rate of eating, I might need to buy these jeans.

Home for a rest and then a 2 min walk to the beach for Ade to swim in the Bay of Biscay, and to watch the sunset.
